the uneasy bond between Martha Washington and her mixed-race half-sister Ann
Dandridge, whom she holds in slavery throughout her life. Coming in Fall, 2007... Watch for details! Sisters Entwined – The Experimental
Theatre Project’s next production will be presented

From the
playwright who brought you the controversial play about an inter-generational
relationship between a woman and a girl in Woman/Girl, and the “caustic satire” that “raised your
hackles” in the 2005
production of Hook the Holy Hollow, comes a new play about the
uneasy bond of sisterhood: |

|
In Sisters Entwined, we find the founding mother of our United
States resisting the struggle of her own sister for emancipation from
racially-inflected enslavement.
Against the backdrop of the Revolutionary War and the early years of
the Constitution, Martha and her half-sister Ann Dandridge negotiate the
terms of their lifelong bonds. Sisters Entwined is written by
Roxanne Ray and directed by Steve Cooper.
Don’t miss this
struggle between the pull of sisterhood and resistance against slavery… The Experimental
Theatre Project is always looking for directors, technical staff, designers,
production managers, and publicity/PR managers. So please contact
us if you would like to participate!
